Blalla W. Hallmann (†1997), who is seen as an exceptional case within the art scene in the German post-war era, focused intensively on his times: impasto pictures with mythical landscapes are next to scenes of psychological borderline experiences that give form to the isolation of the individual in a world full of suspicion and envy. German history, the omnipotence of the Church and State, child abuse and the oppression of children, never-ending exploitation, malice and violence are his themes. Theoretical contributions by renowned scientists illu-minate various aspects of Hallmann’s work. This publication is the first monograph on the artist.
