A tomcat has been living in the sculpture garden of the Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami since its opening in 2017. The staff call him Martin Kippenberger. This artist, who died in 1997, also sneaks his way through Tiziana Jill Beck’s book. His »241 Picture Titles for Artists to Borrow« – a collection of alienated T-shirt slogans – was the starting point for a series of 241 drawings and collages. In the interplay of visual motif and text, Beck’s Marshmallow Moments bear witness to the sense and nonsense of everyday life, react to current events, make reference to pop culture and art history. A visual lexicon of collective contemporary moments that provokes individual narratives.
